Simple elegance

We made a last minute booking as we had tickets for the Alhambra and on arrival at the hotel were given a warm and friendly welcome. This is a lovely hotel, tastefully appointed to show case the history of the building; our room was simple and elegant and the location could not be better in beautiful Granada.

Exceptionally Beautiful Place to Stay

We spent 4 nights at El Ladron de Agua, and enjoyed almost every minute of our stay there. The hotel's employees were pleasant and helpful. Our room was excellent with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. The downstairs courtyard was designed in a modern motif which was extremely beautiful. The breakfast room and lounge were also well designed and beautiful. Art work is scattered throughout. It is an excellent location for a visit to the old city, the Albayzin neighborhood, and the Alhambra,. The Plaza Nueva is 2 or 3 blocks downhill from the hotel, the Cathedral is 1/2 mile away, downtown stores were just as close, and the Alhambra is a 2/3 mile mainly uphill walk from here.

Location, location, location and more

You absolutely can't top the location of this stylish boutique hotel. Located at the foot of the path up to the Alhambra and just a block away from the plaza neuva and at the edge of the Albayzin it is located at the center of all that is Granada. Don't worry, the hotel is not just getting by on it's location. This is a stylish, clean and friendly property. We were up at the top floor and had a fantastic view of the Alhambra from the window just outside of our door. The room was large and comfortable with an absolutely gigantic bathroom that featured a Jacuzzi that was much appreciated after a walk up to and all around the Alhambra. As was the gratis sherry in the lobby in the afternoon. The only problem here is that with the great location many people are walking past so the noise level can sometimes be an issue. Despite the noise I give this hotel a strong recommendation. You will find yourself in a good location.

Beautiful experience

Beautiful boutique hotel in an excellent location in the old town of Granda. Easy walk to everywhere. Rooms and all amenities are first class and the staff are friendly. I would stay here again if visiting Granada.

Excellent hotel, great location

This charming hotel is wonderfully located on the Carrera del Darro, a charming pedestrian (except for taxis) street along the Darro River below the Alhambra. Although there is no hotel parking do not be discouraged. There is a public parking garage, the San Agustin Carpark, next to the cathedral and near Plaza Nueva, that is a 10 minute walk or a short taxi ride from the hotel. Although we initially had concerns about the parking arrangement, it turned out to be quite easy, and our experience at the hotel made this inconvenience more than worth it. The hotel’s center atrium is beautiful and peaceful. Our room, Generalife, was spacious and had a nice view of the Alhambra. The staff was very welcoming and helpful, with good suggestions for touring and dining. They arranged in advance of our arrival for the group Alhambra tour. Breakfast was included in our booking and was wonderful, with a large buffet table with savories and sweets, fresh fruits and juice, served along with excellent cappuccino. The location of El Ladron made it easy to visit the Alhambra and Albaicin as well as Granada’s other attractions. We look forward to returning to this special place.

A winter stay

Wonderful hotel, great location, super service. I would - and will - definitely recommend. We had a room at the front which overlooked Career Del Darro - views up to the Alhambra. We stayed in a superior room but all those I saw were good.

Absolutely Perfect

A beautiful hotel just below the Alhambra and within a quick walk to everything. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful, and the room was spacious and clean, overlooking the small river out front. They have a Sherry tasting every night, so stop back in for some before heading out for dinner. I would recommend this place to all.

We did not want to leave

I do not frequently comment on hotels on Tripadvisor, but I strongly feel the need to, and will, give your hotel an excellent review when I get time. Your hotel is beautiful, friendly, in a perfect location on one of the most famous and elegant streets in the world, and, well, just perfect in every way. The last night I was there I spent 30 minutes just photographing the carved wooden ceiling in our room -- a ceiling that had hand cut beams every 6 inches with ornate sculptures at either end. Amazing. The breakfast was wonderfully elegant. And your prices are a steel. Thank you for a wonderful stay. If we had not already planned and booked out our itinerary, we would have stayed with you much longer. We did not want to leave.

Charming boutique hotel in unbeatable location

This 15-room hotel in a heavily renovated 17th-century mansion is located on a narrow pedestrian street bordering a stream at the foot of the Alhambra and in the heart of the Albaizin, the old Moorish quarter. Opening the ancient door on the hotel's unadorned facade, you find yourself in a starkly modern foyer decorated with poetry-inspired wall hangings. Beyond that, the once-open central courtyard of the house has been converted into a marble-floored lounge with an artistic central bubbling fountain. The rooms on upper floors open onto galleries around this space, and are each named after a poem or musical composition. I found my room amply sized, and very comfortable, with the most luxurious array of pillows I have ever enjoyed in a hotel and an excellent bathroom. With the location on a pedestrian street, there was no traffic noise. Wireless internet access was good (and free). A nice breakfast is served in a below-ground brick-arched room, probably once a cistern. The hotel staff, notably the gorgeous Violeta, were uniformly cheerful, friendly and helpful. An early wake-up call and taxi to the airport were efficiently organized. Perhaps the single best feature of the hotel is its location -- practically everything in Granada is within walking distance, and even the Alhambra is reachable for those with good legs and stout hearts. In all, this was one of the most charming, comfortable and convenient hotels I can recall. Strongly recommended.

Great service, Great Location

We truly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The service was outstanding and the location was great. There was a very nice breakfast and evening sherry and tapas was a nice added touch. Great area for walking around and many good restaurants close by.

Fantastic

We stayed at this quaint hotel in Granada for vacation. The service, room and overall comfort were excellent. Highly recommend it. We stayed at the Generalife room, at the top of the hotel, very nice view of the Alhambra from our window.

Charming hotel

This charming boutique three-star hotel proofs that there is no need for a five-star hotel to make a night in Granada an enchanting one. I stayed here for one night with my sons for a visit to the Alhambra during a summer Holiday in Málaga. First of all, the hotel is perfectly located on the Darro River, a few steps from Plaza Nueva with its tapas restaurants at the bottom of the Alhambra Hill. Our room faced the Alhambra. Do you want anything more in terms of location? Secondly, the staff nicely welcomed us at our arrival, was very fast with check-in and check-out, and offered free wine and light beverages at seven p.m. The building has undergone a beautiful refurbishing that highlights the patio with a spring. The atmosphere is overall cosy and warm. The few rooms have a name reminiscent of the history of the building rather than a number. The room with three beds was spacious, clean, with a Romeo-and-Juliet balcony and a bathroom with window. I will definitely come back.

Beautiful hotel with a fantastic concept, in a great location

This is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed on. Not necessarily because of luxury or amenities but because of its wonderful and interesting concept, impeccable attention to details and charm. We spent two nights in August during a trip to Granada and the south of Spain and wished we could have stayed longer. We got to the train station in Granada and from there took a taxi to the hotel. The ride was cheap and took no longer than 15 mins to get to the hotel, which is located on the Carrera del Darro. This is a beautiful, cobble-stoned promenade that runs parallel to the Darro river and is located right at the foot of the al-Sabika hill which is the mountain on top of which lies the Alhambra. The location also marks the border of the Albayzin quarter which is a quaint and amazing neighborhood with wonderful architecture and vibes, and where you want to walk around to have an authentic Spanish experience. Upon arrival to the hotel we were greeted by our host who gave us the basics about the hotel and showed us to our room, La luna asoma on the second floor (third if you count the ground floor). The room was absolutely beautiful! The hotel's concept revolves around Spanish poets and poetry including Garcia Lorca and de Falla, so you instantly get that very romantic and almost magical feeling that along with a very unique Spanish decoration makes you certain you've landed in the south of Spain. Now, when it came to the room, it was small but it fit two of us without feeling cramped. The decoration and furniture were a mix between modern and antique/rustic styles. Very well done, spotless and well taken care of. The bathroom was always clean and well kept and had Molton Brown bath products, which we love. One of the best things about the room was the balcony. Our room faced the Carrera del Darro and the river, had beautiful views of the al-Sabika hill and a few structures of the Alhambra (but not all of it), along with partial views of Plaza Nueva. In the afternoon, the light was beautiful and sometimes you could hear a soft flamenco sound coming the from performers in the plaza without ever being loud. A big advantage is that from this location most of the touristic attractions can be reached by walking, including the Alhambra. In regards to the staff, they were always polite and helpful. Another nice touch came from the fact that every afternoon the hotel treats guests with Manzanilla sherry in the library between 7pm and 9pm. This takes place in a stunning and very tasteful library that we enjoyed very much. We had breakfast every day and we thought it was good, healthy and fresh, and although it could probably benefit from a little bit more variety it did the job for us who are picky eaters. We also had WiFi that worked perfectly fine during the entire stay. We totally recommend this hotel and will certainly stay here again whenever we go back to Granada. Well done!

Classy, calm refuge in prime location

A tastefully and comfortably appointed 16th-century palace whose rooms evoke the music and poetry of Granada. Helpful staff and cozy rooms make this an excellent choice for enjoying the city's sites but also insulated to keep out noise. I plan to return and will recommend to friends and family. When I had a minor problem with my room, the desk manager came at once to investigate and made things right immediately. Service was terrific without being intrusive.

Excellent Experience

Great location and views - especially the suite of course. Very historic and atmospheric. Glass of sherry in the library always a good start to the evening. We always like to eat breakfast out so cannot comment on that.
